About Flint or Chert: Rock Tumbling: Flint and Chert is essentially the same. Flint often is considered as the darker varieties and Chert the lighter. Both are #7’s on the MOH’s hardness scale (as is Quartz and most varieties of Agates and Jaspers). For Tumbling you will find no easier material to work with than flint/chert. It polishes exceptionally well with the basic grits and tumbler times. We highly recomend it for beginners in order to grasp the basics and get good results out of their efforts at a vey low cost. Flintknapping: Although we do not flintknapp I have tried to communicate with those who use our products and get feedback on it. I do this in hopes of packing the best packages while still having a variety for all uses. We are extremily interested in working with skilled flintknappers and when they use our products we will link our site, contact us for details. |

| This is all Central Texas Flint. We wash the material with a hose to remove loose dirt but do not do an extensive job cleaning the stones. We photo all our Flint Packs on decking that is 5 1/2" wide so you can get an idea of the sizes of the stones. | ||
